About
Hi, I'm John Lewis.
My interest in firearms started when I was introduced to the great outdoors at the age of 13, by a good family friend by the name of Chuck. He invited me on my first camping/hunting trip. Chuck was a Marine who served in the Philippines in his younger days. After nearly 20 years in the California Highway Patrol, he retired and became the Constable of Merced County. His life duties included carrying a loaded firearm wherever he went. He was trained and deemed an expert in his experience as a weapons handler.
I was overwhelmed by Chuck's generosity to get me started on my path with firearms and I was truly thankful that this man directed me in my life’s direction. I learned so much from him that I chose to pass this knowledge and training onto others. It was one very special person’s influence that sparked my interest in becoming a professional firearm instructor. Although Chuck has long since passed away, his legacy will live on in my life and many others.
Several years later I was fortunate to join the team of experts in the gun department at Herb Bauer Sporting Goods. My experiences and breadth of knowledge was attributed to working side by side these individuals who all encouraged me to enter the training arena of firearms! I followed their directed path and was exposed to a variety of professional instruction opportunities and training experiences. I feel deeply blessed to have found my calling in professional firearms instruction and to have encountered numerous experiences with students along the way to enrich my beliefs. Life with firearms can be an incredible journey of safety, knowledge sharing and ultimately offering professional firearm instruction as a career.
